XAVI REYES PRESENTED BY MERCEDES BENZ & ELLE
Xavi Reyes is a fashion label based in Madrid, founded in 2013. In 2015, he debuted at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid and was also a finalist at the famous contest “Who’s on Next” by Vogue Spain where he was considered one of the three best Spanish designers in 2015. Later that year, he made his second show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid presenting his Spring/Summer 2016 collection. He was the winner of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Talent Award. This award offered the opportunity to show the designer’s work at another Mercedes Fashion platform around the world. Due to this possibility Xavi presented his collection at Mercedes Benz Fashion week in Berlin this January.
Xavi’s modern approach to design is deeply rooted in creating new silhouettes largely inspired by youth, unisex world, future and street culture. White and blue are the dominate colours in this collection which makes reference to the designer’s grandparents’ farm in the Spanish mountains. Xavi mixes old fabrics found on the farm with modern silhouettes such as a deconstructed top made in his grandma’s tablecloth.
Zukker is a German fashion brand for women with a clear stance and high demands on form and quality. Zukker represents distinctive silhouettes and exact cuts. The label is known for their coats since their first collection. This collection was no exception, they showed eye-catching coats with folder-over collars, big buttons and wide sleeves. Along with classic colours such as black, grey and nude, designers used vibrant orange, red and blue for contrast. Plaid and polka dot patterns also made an appearance on the runway.
