I was invited by Maybelline to attend Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) in Sydney as part of their #MaybellineSquad. I had my expectations set pretty high but I have to say all my expectations were definitely surpassed. I had the BEST week at MBFWA! Team Maybelline truly went above and beyond!
I flew into Sydney on Sunday morning for the opening runway Toni Maticevski. Before the show we were led into the Hair & Makeup suite at the amazing QT Sydney. There we were surprised with boxes of Maybelline makeup! My first thought how will I transport the makeup bag back home with an luggage already bursting at the seams! Not a bad problem to have!

All glammed up in hair and make up, we were ready for the Toni Maticevski runway at Sydney’s Barangaroo. The show was true to the Maticevski aesthetics. Initially pieces in a palette of black, white and pale grey; we were then introduced to a soft baby blue and statement margarine yellow.
Models wore sky-high platform stilettos from Casadei, though arguably more eye-catching than the garments were the accessories. Ryan Storer created an array of jewels, including a necklace come handcuffs, not to mention the crystals some models had in their mouths.

MBFWA Day 2
Day 2 started with hair and makeup call at 7am. I definitely could get use to this life even if it meant waking up early everyday! With a professional team of hair and makeup artists, it meant we were able to experiment and play around and have a different look everyday. Each day I had a very different look to the next.
Day 2 was a jam packed day for us with three runways: Georgia Alice, Misha Collection and Zhivago. We were able to head backstage to see the runway beauty looks created before every show! We also had opportunities to chat with hair and makeup artists about each look.
The Misha Collection runway had a very special guest, Bella Hadid (sister to Gigi Hadid) who strutted down the runway with a sexy laced dress and trench (pictured below).

MBFWA Day 3
A special thanks Elle for picking out the perfect ribbon for my bow!
#MaybellineSquad in our monogrammed robes!
The By Johnny show was one of my favourite runway shows. I literally wanted every piece from the Resort 17 collection! We saw traditional and feminine silhouettes with a new edge, delicate laser cutouts and hems and a new unique layering styles. The digital printing complimented the body contouring perfectly, creating a whole new style aesthetics for By Johnny.
In the afternoon, we had a very special photoshoot planned. I had this crazy idea that I wanted to be in a bathtub filled with makeup. After seventeen boxes of makeup, the bathtub was full to the brim! A huge thanks to the Maybelline team for fulfilling my childhood dream!
You may not be able to tell in this photos but we did have a little accident during the shoot! The bathtub was only suppose to be filled with makeup, but halfway through the the photographer accidentally turned on the tap! A dry shoot turned into a wet one!
MBFWA Day 4
I had the privilege of meeting Nigel Stanislaus (Maybelline NY Makeup Director in Australia) backstage. It was very special to see Nigel work his magic backstage creating beautiful beauty looks for the runway shows. Nigel filled me in on this season’s beauty trends and his favourite looks from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia. Read my Q&A with Nigel here.
This was the last day of MBFWA for us! We saw two runways: C/MEO Collective and Emma Mulholland.
Coveted brand C/MEO Collective made its first solo Australian Fashion Week debut. Reaffirming why the label is every fashion-lovers first choice when it comes to snagging It pieces, the Resort 17 collection was bursting with must-buy pieces.
Emma Mulholland Resort 17 was not your average collection. A trippy checkerboard floor set the stage for a multi-sensory explosion of colour and texture. It wasn’t woven together by a signature print, nor did it stick to a specific visual motif or era. Instead, it was something entirely different.
It’s a wrap on MBFWA! With the entire Maybelline team (Jess, Ali, Elle and Merin) who looked after us for the week! Thank you for the most memorable MBFWA!
