Living in Australia we often look abroad to satisfy our travel lust. What we often forget is the beauty we can experience in our own backyard! We were invited by AccorHotels to experience the best of what Adelaide has to offer over the weekend.
We checked-in to Mount Lofty House, MGallery by Sofitel. Overlooking the Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills Wine Region, yet just 15 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, the historic Mount Lofty House is the premier destination for luxury escapes, overnight accomodation, fine dining, boutique day spa experiences, conference retreats and weddings. Our favourite rooms were the ones named after the original owners with stunning views over the hills.
We met in the lobby for transfer to experience a Memorable Moment planned for us by Mount Lofty House. We arrived at Lane Vineyard for a scenic helicopter ride over Adelaide Hills. It was such a beautiful and exhilarating experience and personally experience from the air the scenic view the region has to offer.
After the helicopter ride, we were all ready for lunch at The Lane Vineyard.
After lunch, we were taken by a chauffeur driven Vintage limousine to some of the regions iconic wineries to enjoy private tastings with the wine maker. First stop was Shaw and Smith Winery to try their cheese and wine tasting. Their sauvignon blanc is arguably Australia’s best seller! I really enjoyed their cellar door exclusive riesling as well.
Next stop, we arrived at Hahndorf Hill Winery. This winery does a speciality single origin chocolate and wine tasting which was an unexpectedly delicious combination.
We arrived back at Mount Lofty House to freshen up and soon after enjoy a sunset dinner at Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, Mount Lofty House’s new premier restaurant overlooking Piccadilly Valley. Executive Chef, Girard Ramsay, and hatted head chef Wayne Brown, have set about capturing the true essence of good food; simple and fresh defined by locally sourced product, changing seasonally, and the finest internationally soured ingredients. The restaurant’s ‘Valley-To-Verandah’ ethos is made obvious in the details, like the unique fire put consisting of a mixture of charcoals that add a new variety and depth to Brown’s unique flavours.
Next morning, we enjoyed in-room breakfast in bed.
After breakfast we explored the majestic Lofty Gardens. We found a beautiful picnic set up in the gardens for us.
We checked-out of Mount Lofty House and drove to Playford MGallery by Sofitel. Located in the heart of Adelaide this boutique hotel offers the perfect blend of classical style and contemporary luxury.
For dinner, we were whisked away to South Australia’s Restaurant of the Year, Windy Point, and enjoyed a seven course degustation dinner overlooking the panoramic views of Spencer Gulf through to the Adelaide Hills.
The next morning, we enjoyed breakfast together in Playford’s restaurant.
South Australia has so much to offer in terms of great wines and good food! We loved exploring with AccorHotels and can’t wait to head back for another weekend adventure!
