My Memorable Moments: Melbourne

No doubt about it, discovering other cities is an unbeatable experience – but a stressful one at that (travelling hours before reaching your destination or dealing with airport security).

So why leave for another place when there’s so much yet to be discovered in your own town? I was invited by Accor Hotels to experience their MGallery by Sofitel hotels in Melbourne.

The MGallery brand is comprised of a collection of captivating boutique hotels that exudes luxury, charisma and a profoundly local character. In addition to offering impeccable service, five-star facilities and captivating designs, each hotel offers guests the opportunity to experience a ‘Memorable Moment’ curated by the staff themselves. I was excited to see what Memorable Moments they had planned for this trip!

The vibrant The Como Melbourne, MGallery by Sofitel hotel is the epitome of chic style and elegance. The hotel is situated in the stylish South Yarra fashion district. Featuring 111 rooms, the hotel is renowned for delivering impeccable and discreet service to all. Guests are treated to contemporary styled rooms that are luxuriously spacious, letting in abundance of natural light! There is an enticing sun deck and pool area to relax and unwind. You can also savour spectacular cuisine at the Brasserie restaurant and sip stylish cocktails in SOBar.

For our first Memorable Moment, I met my fellow influencers in the two story Gold Suite. We were introduced to renowned Melbourne stylist Elaine Marshall for a personalised shopping experience on Chapel Street. We discussed the importance of curating good basics for any wardrobe and Spring/Summer trends.

After shopping, we headed to dinner at popular Chapel Street haunt Mr Miyagi – named after the fictional Japanese Sen-se in cult classic, The Karate Kid. I was beyond excited to try Mr Miyagi as I have heard many great reviews and especially wanted to try the Nori Tacos and Frosè. The food and service exceeded all my expectations! For dessert, make sure you order the donuts with hot chocolate sauce. There’s no words to describe these donuts, you just have to try them yourself!

After dinner, I was ready to have a shower and call it a night after a long and exciting day. Upon return to my hotel room, I was pleasantly surprised. I was treated to a hot cup of tea and a steaming hot bath with flower petals! I definitely had a great night sleep after that!

One of my favourite things about staying at a hotel is breakfast in bed! It’s even better with my partner-in-crime on this trip, Shellie. Whilst breakfast in bed was tempting, we were also tempted by breakfast by the pool which was flooded with warm sunlight! We ended up having our breakfast trays there! It was the best decision!

After breakfast we packed our bags and headed to another stunning MGallery by Sofitel hotel. Hotel Lindrum is a unique 59 room boutique hotel that combines modern design with the ultimate in contemporary facilities and personalised service. Ideally located in Flinders Street, Hotel Lindrum is known as luxury Melbourne romantic hotel and is nestled in Australia’s fashion and dining capital, providing easy access to all this world-famous city has to offer. The hotel is within walking distance to world-class theatres and restaurants, sporting venues and major attractions. Hotel Lindrum has incorporated aspects of its heritage as Lindrum’s Billiard Centre in present day operations. The billiard room features one of the original billiard tables from the buildings days as Lindrum’s Billiard Centre. It has been lovingly restored to its former glory by Alcock, Walker and Thompson, the company that originally built the billiards table.

We were spoilt with a degustation lunch at Felt Restaurant, located on the ground floor of Hotel Lindrum. Felt Restaurant serves delightful seasonal fare in a charming, intimate environment where quality and service are sophisticated yet unassuming. Named after the green ‘felt’ lining on top of the hotel’s famous billiard table, this Melbourne restaurant cleverly combines modern day furnishings within a historical Melbourne landmark.

After lunch, we enjoyed a private billiard lesson hosted by world champion billiards player Robby Foldvari. The lesson was fun and interactive! We all tried our hands at billiard and there was one amongst us who was brave enough to volunteer to lie on the table while Robby hits the ball from their mouth and the ball ends up in the pocket! We were all in awe of this skilled trick!

We head to dinner at Cecconi’s Flinders Lane. The Bortolotto family has been part of the Melbourne hospitality industry for the past 40 years. Since 2006, its Flinders Lane restaurant, Cecconi’s, has sat handsomely at number 61. Cecconi’s grows its own seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs such as figs, eggplants and garlic to help create dishes such as the signature seafood linguine, veal cotoletta with slaw and twice cooked duck with caramelised black figs and walnuts and patented brass. The room flows effortlessly from the casual cellar bar into the formal dining room, with the theme following right through to the kitchenware and menus. We ordered a variety of dishes to share. Choosing one dish was simply too difficult!

The next morning, you guessed it! Shellie came over to my room and we enjoyed breakfast in bed with the perfect view of Melbourne from my room!

Later that morning, we were also spoilt with a scrumptious high tea! Yes, we couldn’t resist desserts even though we were so full from breakfast!

Thank you Accor Hotels (@accorhotels_aus) for so many Memorable Moments on this Melbourne stay-cation.  I definitely felt like a tourist discovering my home town all over again!
