Recently I attended a beautiful wedding at Rochford Winery located an hour’s drive from Melbourne. Rochford Winery is synonymous with music events (such as the John Legend concert coming up), good food and wine, the beauty of the Yarra Valley and of course weddings!
Having never attended a winery wedding, my thoughts quickly turned to what do I wear? After doing quite a bit of researching and asking many friends. I came up with my outfit.
Here I share everything I learnt about what to wear to winery weddings.
1. Location. These locations usually have a rustic feel and often feature outdoor ceremonies. It is more sophisticated than a beach wedding but less formal than a city wedding. Countryside weddings beg for attire that is in-between and comfortable.
2. Weather. Winery weddings usually takes place in the warmer months. Something light and flowy is ideal. Feeling hot and bothered in a tight dress sticking to your body can ruin a good night.
3. Footwear. Heels can be tricky for an outdoor wedding, but wearing flats feels too casual. Wedges are a great option. If you are determined to wear heels, choose chunky heels or buy heel protectors for your stilettos. It is a clear plastic cover that wraps around the stem of your heels.
4. Bag. Choose a bag with a shoulder chain or strap, this means hands-free for drinks and canapés.
