Sydney Travel Diary

Oh hey Sydney! We are well acquainted, it’s the fourth time we met in the last two months. Despite being in Sydney frequently, this trip is a little different. Usually I am in Sydney for events and meetings, this means flying in and out with little leisure time. This time, I am in Sydney for a friend’s wedding.

We checked-in to Swissotel Sydney, a luxury five-star hotel located in the heart of Sydney’s central business district. It is a convenient walk from Queen Victoria Building and Westfield Sydney. Also within walking distance are some of Sydney’s famous landmarks including Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and the beautiful Botanic Gardens.

When I arrived, I received a warm welcome. In particular, a beautiful box of meringue kisses made by Executive Chef Joshua Askew. It was such a beautiful box of desserts, almost too good to eat! But of course, I had to indulge on them. Luckily it came in a box because one was simply not enough!

I headed down to JPB Restaurant at Swissotel Sydney for a buffet breakfast (6am-10:30am), from made-to-order omelettes to one of my breakfast favourites – congee! It was the perfect start to our Sydney trip!

For lunch, I caught up with Alex and Tsutsumi, the girls from Candid That at Cuppaflower. It was only a short 15 minute car ride from Swissotel Sydney. A florist and a cafe in one, is that not the perfect combination? The cafe brings together two of my favourite things – good food and fresh flowers! Keeping to their theme, Cuppaflower offers a variety of flower tea and can we just take a moment to admire those much loved Totoro cakes (comes in black sesame and green tea)?!

After lunch, we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding! The wedding was held at the Quay Restaurant overlooking the beautiful Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Vivid was on that night so we also enjoyed the enchanting lighting shows on display.

After a big night, there as nothing more tempting than breakfast in bed! That’s exactly what we did! We had the perfect balance of sweet (pancakes and waffles) and savoury dishes (big breakfast and eggs benedict).

Following breakfast, we were enjoyed on delicious champagne high tea from Crossroads Bar in Swissotel. We indulged in dainty finger sandwiches, hand crafted delights and mouthwatering scones presented on an elegant tiered stand, served with our choice of loose leaf tea and of course champagne!

Later that day, I met up with Pat (@pat_kay) and we took a scene drive down to Hornby. It was a lovely way to end my trip in Sydney. See you next time, Sydney!
